UDC Adoption Process Begins

The City is beginning the adoption process for a new zoning code that will implement the vision in Map for Mobile. Learn about the code and provide feedback for consideration during the adoption process.

First Public Hearing
February 25, 2021 at 2:00 pm

The Mobile City Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and take public comment on the proposed Unified Development Code (UDC). Alabama state law requires at least two public hearings for adoption – one with the Planning Commission and one with the City Council. This will be the first public hearing to consider adoption of the UDC.

Due to COVID-19, the public hearing will be conducted virtually
as allowed by Emergency Proclamations issued by the Governor of the State of Alabama.

 All interested parties wishing to speak at the public hearing must register by noon Friday, February 19, 2021.

UDC Next Steps

During the adoption process, the public, City Staff, and elected officials will review Version 4 and incorporate any final revisions endorsed during the hearings. Alabama state law requires at least two public hearings for adoption – one with the Planning Commission and one with the City Council. Once adopted, the code will go into effect serving as the new regulations for the city.
