On Saturday, July 29, 2023, 176 participants biked, ran, walked, rolled, and strolled the Hank Aaron Loop to celebrate the official reopening of Broad Street as part of the inaugural “Lope the Loop” Fun Run/Walk. Since 2019, the Broad Street Revitalization Project has invested more than $21 million into the roadways, infrastructure and amenities along Beauregard, Broad and Canal streets. This transformative effort has rebuilt these majors corridors from the ground up — replacing decades old infrastructure, improving roads, connecting neighborhoods and making downtown more accessible to cyclists, pedestrians, and wheelchair users. If you missed this year’s event, don’t worry. We are hoping to bring Lope the Loop back next year as we continue to improve the Broad Street corridor.
