Accessibility Statement

The City of Mobile (the City) is committed to making its web site accessible according to the standards set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative. To improve the accessibility of its web site, the City strives to ensure that any new content or development conforms to these accessibility standards.

The MapforMobile.org website currently conforms to the following accessibility standards:

  • Images are tagged with alternative text and administrative users are prompted to enter this information
  • Keyboard navigation
  • Image and drop-down menu links include a text link alternative
  • Menus, tables and forms designed for intuitive, logical and easy use by “keyboard” navigators

In addition, MapforMobile.org makes available the UserWay Website Accessibility Widget that is powered by a dedicated accessibility server. The software allows Mapformobile.org to improve its compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

Enabling the Accessibility Menu
The accessibility menu can be enabled either by hitting the tab key when the page first loads or by clicking the accessibility menu icon that appears on the corner of the page. After triggering the accessibility menu, please wait a moment for the accessibility menu to load in its entirety.

Disclaimer
City of Mobile continues its efforts to constantly improve the accessibility of its site and services in the belief that it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible and unhindered use also for those of us with disabilities.

In an ongoing effort to continually improve and remediate accessibility issues, we also regularly scan Mapformobile.org with UserWay’s Accessibility Scanner to identify and fix every possible accessibility barrier on our site.
Despite our efforts to make all pages and content on Mapformobile.org fully accessible, some content may not have yet been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. This may be a result of not having found or identified the most appropriate technological solution.

If you use assistive technology and the format of any content on this web site interferes with your ability to access the information, please contact the City at webmaster@cityofmobile.org. Please indicate the nature of your accessibility problem or suggested changes, the web address (URL), the preferred format in which to receive any information you could not access, and your contact information. The City will work to make the web page or feature accessible or to provide the information in a format that is accessible.
