It’s a great day on MLK! Crews began mobilizing this week and preparing our laydown yard across Three Mile Creek. Milling started between Butchers Lane and Lincoln Street, and the construction team has created a new traffic scheme with  two lanes of travel, temporary striping and barrels. Work on the water line replacement will start next week. As a reminder, we will work on the west side of the Mardi Gras route until after February 17th, completing all of the major items of work. Work on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. Begins

Mobile, Ala. — Construction will begin this week along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue as the City of Mobile makes major investments into this historic downtown corridor. Work is starting this week near Butchers Lane just past Three Mile Creek and will move east toward Broad Street. There will be single-lane closures as work progresses, but the road will remain open to traffic throughout the project. The project is expected to wrap up in the summer of 2027. Loop the Loop: Broad Street reopening fun run/walk

Since 2019, the Broad Street Revitalization Project has invested more than $21 million into the roadways, infrastructure and amenities along Beauregard, Broad and Canal streets. This transformative effort has rebuilt these majors corridors from the ground up — replacing decades old infrastructure, improving roads, connecting neighborhoods and making downtown more accessible to cyclists, pedestrians, and wheelchair users. Broad Street to close from Canal to Government

Mobile, Ala. – Beginning next week, Broad Street will be closed from Government Street to the roundabout at the intersection of Canal Street so crews can begin replacing underground utilities and adding new curbs, ramps, and drainage features to the area. This section of Broad Street will close at approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, April 25, and will remain closed for several months as the work in this area continues.
