On Thursday, May 21, The Map for Mobile planning team presented work-in-progress at the end of the four-day Designing The Future Workshop. This presentation highlights the plan principles derived from earlier community input, potential design solutions that reflect those principles, and polled participants on choices for future priorities. Nearly 500 citizens filled the gymnasium of Government Street Baptist Church on March 30 to take part in Map for Mobile's kick-off workshop. The Focus on the Future workshop introduced participants to the comprehensive plan process and generated ideas from the public on how to improve the city and its long-term growth without sacrificing its unique assets. Participants worked in small groups on two activities: 1) Brainstorming Ideas for the Future; and 2) Mapping Strong and Weak Places.
