City breaks ground on the next section of Greenway Trail.

The City of Mobile broke ground Thursday afternoon on the next section of the Three Mile Creek Greenway Trail. This segment will continue the trail west toward University Hospital and Mill Street Park. While this segment is under construction, work is expected to begin on the westernmost piece, stretching eastward from the Charles Wood Japanese Garden near Langan Park. Funding obtained for future greenway segments.

The City of Mobile has obtained funding for additional segments of the Three Mile Creek Greenway Trail. Those segments will extend the trail east from the Japanese Gardens for over a mile along the north side of the creek. Funding was allocated from the City's Capital Improvements Plan with support of a grant from the State of Alabama's Transportation Alternatives Program. Construction is expected to begin in 2023. Construction on Phase 1 begins in February 2023

Construction on the Three Mile Creek Watershed Restoration project will begin in early 2023. Phase 1, which includes bank stabilization from University Blvd to Museum Drive, will begin in February. The contractor for this phase is James H. Adams & Son Construction. Phase 2 is anticipated to begin in May and Phase 3 is anticipated to begin in August. These phases may be contracted separately.

City Council to consider draft UDC

The current proposed UDC (shown here) was considered by City Planning Commission the March 10, 2022 public hearing. At that hearing, Planning Commission recommended that the proposed UDC be considered by City Council at a future public hearing. Alabama state law requires at least two public hearings for adoption – one with the Planning Commission followed by one with the City Council.
